Heroes Project: Howard Zinn
For this project I used typographical elements to create a portrait of the historian Howard Zinn. The words were selected from various quotes by Zinn selected from his written works and speeches. Both were created in Photoshop using the type, brush presets and layer mask tools. The image on the left was made without using layer masks while the image on the right used a gradient layer as well as a mask. The criteria was to select a personal hero. I've always been inspired by Zinn's search for the truth motivated by his own experiences in the military. His accurate portrayal of American History to show the true level of violence and barbaric foundation our country was built on was enamouring to say the least.
